Squirrel Control Devon
Grey squirrels are abundant and they are not native to the UK. First introduced in the 1870’s, they have few predators so the population has grown enormously.
They cause a lot of damage to trees, eating bird’s eggs and have pushed the native red squirrel to near extinction in this country due to several factors.
They are classified as rodents having large incisor teeth, subsequently if you find one in your attic, they can cause an awful lot of damage, gnawing wires creating a serious health hazard and even causing structural damage to the loft area.
They are particularly active during the day for about 4 to 5 hours travelling up to 500 meters from their drays.
How to Identify Grey Squirrels:
- Nuts such as acorns or food from nearby bird feeders may be found in garden or roof void
- Visual sightings
- Damage to tree bark, rings of bark stripped at various heights
